December catch up…

Screen Shot 2015-12-29 at 21.30.35.pngLook at my beautiful new clutch from Luna on the Moon (Etsy)! Isn’t it wonderful? I needed a new bag for my work Christmas party and I needed something glitzy. I looked high and low, designer and otherwise and I stumbled across LOTM on Etsy at just the right time. A quick message through the Etsy app secured me my very own colour-way (blue and gold are not an existing design) and it was on its way to me a couple of days later! I can’t recommend this seller enough; she was a joy to communicate with.

I’ll post more pictures when I get some decent light but for now, the above photo will have to do (taken in the conservatory when it first arrived – I was so excited and it was packaged beautifully).

Screen Shot 2015-12-28 at 22.39.21.pngI needed some gifts for the Nephews (UK and Aus) and I found The Kid Who (.eu) online and then realised that they have an actual brick-store in Brighton, which is local to me. My parcel came wrapped in the most imaginative and wonderful way, even with a bag of freebie sweets thrown in for good measure. I managed to salvage some of the bags and stickers and re-purpose them for gift wrapping. I got some super things, including these nesting dolls,  this plate, this book (teaching kids to count to 100, which is amazing), amongst other lovely things. I’ll most definitely be back for birthdays, etc. in the future and I recommend that you check them out too.

Screen Shot 2015-12-28 at 22.40.12.pngI’m not writing this particular update to rave about Wagamama (we all know how good Wags is…) but instead I am going to show off and tell you that Deliveroo in Brighton delivered this wonderful bag of goods to my workplace for only £2.50! What a great service.

Screen Shot 2015-12-28 at 22.40.23.pngRandom car-selfie. I love bright, dry, winter days – my favourite combination is sunglasses and scarves.

Screen Shot 2015-12-28 at 22.40.50.pngThese three photos represent CHRISTMAS. The first one is one of the truffles from our Hotel Chocolat couples advent calendar (which I’ve just discovered is 50% off at the moment – bargain). It was delicious but it’s now 3 days after Christmas and we’ve still not emptied it! Oops.

The other photos are our miniature tree (from Waitrose) and nativity scene (not so much a nativity as a lit-up wooden house with animals on the lawn). Doesn’t it all look sparkly and wonderful?

Screen Shot 2015-12-28 at 22.41.09.pngMeatLiquor Brighton is a wonderful, wonderful place if you like burgers… and liquor. This is their amazing Christmas burger. Need I say more? Here are the menu entries for the three things that I had… all of which were delicious.

Screen Shot 2015-12-28 at 23.03.14Screen Shot 2015-12-28 at 23.03.27Screen Shot 2015-12-28 at 23.06.05After the above and a couple of G&Ts, I sure did regret it in the morning. I had a terrible hangover the following day. I must be getting old!

Screen Shot 2015-12-28 at 22.41.36.pngA few days after the burger I went to my work Christmas party. It was a masked ball and the above was my mask. Not too bad for £6.99 from H&M! It was gold and sparkly with ribbon ties. The party was good, the food was good, there was a lot of alcohol (a lot, a lot) and I had THE worst hangover of my entire life. But I got through it and that’s me done with drinking for another 6 months!

Screen Shot 2015-12-28 at 22.42.37.pngWe did some Christmas Eve shopping in Guildford, Surrey. It looks like I eat a lot of burgers, but I don’t really. But they are my favourite food, so I do tend to pick burger places more than other places. Five Guys is my favourite burger of them all. I get mine loaded with cheese, pickles, mustard, fried onions, and mayo and it is perfection.

I had a quick look in Jo Malone as well as a quick run around House of Fraser. I needed a few last minute gifts and it was a good last-minute dash. The sales had already started, which was advantageous.

The sad news is that I fell in love with a Jo Malone fragrance that I discovered was being discontinued when I was already on my way home. It’s sold out everywhere online and I had a bottle in my hands in the shop! Vanilla & Anise (in case you were wondering). It really reminded me of Lush’s Dear John (from the Lush olden days).

Screen Shot 2015-12-28 at 22.42.59.pngThis 3×2 was all taken on Boxing day. We had a lovely Christmas day followed by a lovely Boxing day. I got to spend the day with my Dad, Mum, Sister, future Brother in Law and my wonderful Nephew, R. The top left is a wooden puzzle that I got him from John Lewis. I recommend it, it’s a great wooden toy. Then there’s me and The Husband; we went for a walk on Bexhill beach because it was really windy the and the waves were huge and I wanted to see them. It’s so photogenic there and hopefully we’ll go back soon for a proper look around.

Screen Shot 2015-12-28 at 22.43.15.pngHere you can see my new giraffe plate from Anthropologie, my day-after-boxing-day full English from Cote in Horsham, a random building shot, my new Moomin scarf (christmas present from the little sister), some berries from the garden, and a delicious all butter biscuit sat on top of my new John Lewis blue diamond cushion.

So there’s a quick catch up from me. Apologies for the lack of detail. I’m hoping that in 2016 I will have more time to blog more often (we will see). Thanks for taking the time to have a look at my pictures; it is appreciated, as always.

I’m back to work tomorrow (boo!) so I’m going to go to bed.

Thanks again,

p.s. Just finished Pretty Little Liars season 6. Ooooo!

Christmas lunch and other stuff…

So, the Christmas period is firmly here. It has landed. It’s not going anywhere for another few weeks. I’ve had two Christmas dinners already and I am ready for my third.

Today was the day of our department Christmas lunch. I work in a hospital, in the operating theatres, so it’s hard for us to get out and have lunch, so we are provided with THE most amazing Christmas lunch every year, delivered to our department, with crackers, and lovely napkins, and pudding, and all the trimmings. I could not be more grateful for the effort that the restaurant staff go to.

I forgot to have the soup [with chestnut cream!] so I went straight for the roast turkey, with pigs in blankets, lots of veg, stuffing, and cranberry sauce [yum] followed by Christmas pudding with brandy sauce and a little pastry thingy, which was also delicious.

Here is some evidence of said lunch:

Here are the goods that I collected from the crackers:

When I got home I had received a delivery that I have been keen to receive… I treated myself to a Joco coffee cup! They are made by a company in Australia and they are made from glass and silicone! I’ve never been a fan of travel mugs because… well, they’re ugly, BUT these are beautifully stylish and I can’t wait to use mine now that it has arrived. I’ve been thinking of getting one for a while but at £25 (for a 12oz by the time you add postage) I wasn’t TOO keen, but I found one for less than £20   on the Handpickedcollection website! I had to go with lime green (I would have picked yellow otherwise) but it is lovely. Before I paid such a silly amount for a cup, I checked with Small Batch Coffee (via Twitter) that they are happy to use travel/re-useable cups instead of their own, and not only are they happy to make your coffee in your own cup… they give you 10p off your coffee! How great is that?!

Here’s my box [it comes with care instructions, instructions/recipes for making hot drinks, and some fun suggestions for reusing the box]:

STUDY UPDATE: I got my results today from my last two essays, both of which I thought I’d completely flunked, and I got passes! Much higher than I thought I’d get, so I’m really pleased. I have two more due in a couple of days though, so I’ve now got to get on with those.

So that’s a goodbye for now and I will be back! I need to come back soon to show you the diary that I got for the new year [when it arrives from Paperchase].

Last week.

Screen Shot 2015-12-06 at 23.56.49.png

[from top left, to right…]

1. December 5th marked the day of the Christmas dinner that I arranged for my work pals. We went to a gin bar in Brighton, had gin and christmas dinner, and watched a burlesque cabaret. It was awesome. There was fire, gin, good food, dancing, singing, and boobs.

2. On Thursday 4th December, I had my first mince pie of the year. I know that once I’ve had one, I will want more. So I try to put it off until later in the month. However, work had made fresh ones and I’m weak. So here it is. I don’t even like them very much…

3. I met Vincent the Frenchie puppy [five months old] this week and he was wonderful. He lives with a colleague of mine and I follow him on Instagram. He’s named after Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction. #LOVE Y’all know how much I love PF! #Ketchup

4. My morning latte from Small Batch. I took this to represent the hashtag #routine. I like to put my latte on the window ledge of the pub whilst I wait for the bus in the morning. I got myself a new travel mug this week and I’ll show it to you when it gets delivered.

5. I was poorly during the week and I fancied a Big Mac. Do I feel bad about it? A bit. Melamine plate from John Lewis‘ picnic collection.

6. I got a septum cuff! Here I am rocking it. It’s in black and white because I’d not put my make up on. I’ve since lost the septum cuff [what? It’s tiny!] and I hope to find it again soon. If not, I’ll have to get another one, because I love it.

That was my week! hoorah! I also got a new camera but I’m not ready to write a whole post on it yet, and that’s what it deserves, so more info coming soon.

I hope you all have a wonderful week.
